Four Weeks?!

By Daniel K. Wiems
special to EdMaddenReports

Three weeks on and four weeks off - it sounds more like an oilfield job than a quarterback. And yet, that is just the situation with relatively new Knife quarterback, Aaron Brooks.

Toward the end of a vicious game that was close due only to the heroics of rookie-of-the-year candidate Vic Hutton, Brooks was blind-sided by Dwight Freeney and knocked out of competition for four weeks at the least.

"It's just not fair," said Brooks, who went into the game confident and focused, happy with a new chance at life, being rescued from New Orleans to replace an injured Chris Simms.

Fair or not, the Knife have made it clear, by picking up disappointing Rohan Davey, that Mao Rice-Rice is the go-to guy.

"I didn't ask for this, but I will do my absolute best for the team." was all this reporter could get out of the tacit young quarterback.

Time will tell if Rice-Rice will be nice-nice or if we're saying "Not now," to Mao.

Stay tuned.
